Chains should be replaced more often than any other component on your drivetrain. Keeping your chain clean, lubed and not allowing it to stretch too much (as in replacing the chain ever so often) will ensure that the cassette and chainrings on your bike will keep the same tooth profile for longer, saving you money on replacing those more expensive parts.
Chains come in single speed, 6/7/8 speed, 9 speed, 10 speed and 11 speed. Always try to match your chain to the components you already have on your bike, as this will ensure 100% compatibility and optimal performance levels.
